Can you drive in NC with an out of state license? ?

My girlfriend is going to college in NC but her dad wants to get a better insurance rate by getting her an Ohio license and insurance. He does live in Ohio and her legal residence is Ohio. I'm worried that she could get in trouble for having an out of state license for too long.

Can she get in trouble? and if so, how long does she have before she must get an NC license.

Also, he dad wants to get a car for her in Ohio, so how long can she drive with Ohio plates? Can she use the insurance from Ohio on a car with NC plates if she is required to change the plate?

I found this on the NC DMV website:

A nonresident of North Carolina is "Any person whose legal residence is in a state, territory, or jurisdiction other than North Carolina or in a foreign country."

Examples of nonresidents:

* Out-of-state college students who intend to return to their home states upon completion of their educations in North Carolina. Can you drive in NC with an out of state license? ?
you answered your own question. She CAN keep her Ohio license and keep her car registered there too without consequeses. Can you drive in NC with an out of state license? ?
Just about EVERY State has colleges. Saying that In every State the State police and any and all local PD understand that even though you will most likely be in there neighborhood from 1 day to 4 years, you are a transient person and do not actually make It your permanent resident. So, tell her to go and absorb the wealth of knowledge available to her and maybe some day she will be the President of the USA, with an Ohio drivers license
