I live in North Carolina and I am selling my car to a friend who now lives in Michigan. This is further complicated by the fact that I will have already moved to another country at the time that she'll be in NC to get the car.
So how do we transfer ownership between states? I've done it before with someone in NC, and they were at the DMV with me, but I have no clue how to do it with someone who is in another state. How do you sell a car to someone in another state - esp concerning registration?
Well, is the car still registered and insured in your name? If so, just keep it registered and insured in your name, and sign the title over to her (you might have to have it notarized), and mail the title to her with a bill of sale and the keys. Then, she can come pick it up, drive it back home, and register and insure it there.
HER INSURANCE AGENT is the best person to walk her through buying a car out of state, and getting it back to MI.How do you sell a car to someone in another state - esp concerning registration?
All you need to do is make a bill of sale and both of you sign it and date it and sign ur part of the title of and they fill in there part and ur done. But they will need to have a police inspection done when the car is registered in Michigan because it has a out of state title this just assures them it is not stolen. How do you sell a car to someone in another state - esp concerning registration?
the same way you would sell any other car.
my question was not about geography,it was about culture.
