Inspecting a car in NC?

Do you get charged a fine through the NC DMV if you get your car inspected late?? Thank you in advance!Inspecting a car in NC?
No.Inspecting a car in NC?
Actually you can be fined. I'm not sure of all the details - but I do remember a few articles in the newspaper last year about this. I believe its a recently implemented fine - and I do believe it is a bit expensive. However, I think it was only after your sticker was expired for a bit .. I personally doubt a few days will incur any fines. As far as when you go to get your inspection done - it doesn't matter. They just inspect the car and collect the appropriate fees which the state directs them to collect. I went for just over a year with an expired inspection sticker - and when I finally got it done I only had to pay the regular fee.

BUT - you should definetely check for the answer on the web. I'm not sure if its on the DMV or not ... just do a search it should pop up.

EDIT: Here is a copy and paste from the NCDOT website!

Under General Statute 20-183.8A, if a vehicle fails to pass a Safety/OBD Inspection within four months of the expiration of the existing inspection sticker, the vehicle owner will receive a $250.00 civil penalty and be unable to renew the registration until the vehicle passes a Safety/OBD (On-Board Diagnostic) emission inspection.

You will only receive one official warning letter through the mail within a four-month period before the Penalty %26amp; Registration Block is actually issued. However, if you are stopped by a law enforcement officer, you are subject to be cited with a traffic ticket any time you are driving the vehicle with an expired sticker. The owner could be fined up to $250.00, and not be allowed to renew the registration untill the vehicle passes the OBD emissions test. You may call 1-888-999-3044, between 8a.m. and 7p.m. Monday through Friday, excluding state holidays, for assistance concerning emissions related issues.
